WHAT IS RESEARCH

 Research is fundamentally defined as a systematic inquiry or investigation aimed at discovering new facts, establishing novel relationships, or verifying existing knowledge [1-5]. It is described as a "voyage of discovery" that moves from the known to the unknown [5-7].


Etymology and Core Meaning

The word "research" is derived from two components: "Re" (meaning again and again) and "Search" (meaning to find out something) [4, 8, 9]. Technically, it is the application of the scientific method to study problems and find dependable solutions [10-13]. It involves the "manipulation of things, concepts, or symbols" to extend, correct, or verify knowledge [13-15].
